My new painting series reimagines the mihrab, a sacred niche in Islamic tradition, as more than just an architectural marvel. Stripped of the customary opulence and intricate designs, my work delves into the mihrab’s true essence as a gateway to Islam. Each canvas echoes the profound and often tumultuous experiences of my childhood in Iran, a land shrouded under the veil of a despotic Islamic regime. These paintings transcend mere depictions, becoming portals to the raw, unvarnished reality I witnessed, and inviting viewers to explore the intersection of faith, power, and personal history.
